Services and Fees

Educational Consulting is a personal service whether families are looking for a private school, HISD magnet school, or special needs school. School Solutions offers several levels of service. Families get the most value from Plans which are not priced at hourly rates. The Placement Plan has proven to have the best results for clients going through the school admission process, including families with HISD magnet programs as well as private schools on their list.

The following list of fees reflects the typical ways which services are offered. A discount is offered when working with siblings on Guidance or Placement Plans. If a Client begins with one level of service and moves up to a higher, the first fee is applied to the higher fee. For example, if a family begins with a $250 Consultation and decides later selects a Placement Plan, the fee balance owed would be $1750.

CONSULTATION ~ $250 per hour

The Consultant provides a specific service, generally of an advisory nature regarding the admission process or broader educational guidance. I often recommend beginning with a Consultation to answer intial questions and explore whether further services would help a family reach its educational goals.

GUIDANCE PLAN ~ $1100

Parents receive a list of schools considered to be a right fit for their child. Services include:

1. An initial meeting with the family and the student to identify the student’s strengths, talents, personality, and learning styles

2. A thorough review of all available academic records and testing reports

3. Assistance with arrangements for additional testing if considered necessary

4. Interviews as appropriate with school personnel and other professionals who work with the student

5. Formation of a concept of the student and school options

6. Presentation and discussion of a list of recommended schools which may include public and private options

Placement Plan ~ Day Schools - $2000 ~Boarding Schools - $2600

Include Steps 1-6 of the Guidance Plan plus the following comprehensive services:
7. A personalized folder with selected school profiles, calendar of important dates, and admission requirements

8. Strategies for making the most of open houses, school tours, and parent interviews

9. Reminders of upcoming events and due dates through phone calls and emails

10. Information about entrance tests, registration and testing with accommodations

11. Guidance for preparing the student for entrance tests; suggestions for tutors

12. Preparation for student events such as interviews, shadowing, and group visiting days

13. Guidance with individualizing applications and letters of recommendation

14. Assistance making sure that the student's file is complete by the due date

15. Strategies for addressing the unexpected, such as low test scores or poor visiting days/ interviews

16. Appropriate advocacy with admission directors on behalf of the student and family

17. Strategies and guidance when schools which offer acceptance, wait-list, or enrollment conditions

18. Follow-up with the student’s progress during the first year of enrollment

Additional services for Placement Clients coming from out of the city include assistance with:

*locating testing providers in their area or arranging local testing

*arranging school tours; accompanying families on tours if the Consultant is available

PAYMENT
Fees are to be paid in full by personal check or cash at the beginning of service and are non-refundable.

SCHOOL SOLUTIONS makes every effort to secure an appropriate school placement for the student but does not guarentee enrollment at any school.
